Warrior Wellness | Does a 10-minute walk even count?

Hey there, Reader!

Have you ever decided not to exercise because you didn’t have enough time for a “real” workout?

You only had 10 minutes.
You couldn’t make it to the gym.
You didn’t have time for your usual run.

So you did...nothing.

I think we sometimes make exercise harder by creating a pretty high standard for what counts.

Yes, there are recommendations for how much physical activity we should get each week. And yes, there are good reasons to work toward them.

But your body doesn’t wait until you hit 150 minutes for movement to suddenly become worthwhile.

A 10-minute walk counts.

A short strength workout counts.
Moving more throughout your day counts.

And if you’re currently doing very little, doing a little more is a really good place to start.

This week on the Warrior Wellness blog, we’re talking about how much exercise you actually need, including the current recommendations, cardio versus strength, exercise intensity, recovery, and what to do when you simply don’t have much time.

You don’t have to build the perfect exercise routine.

Start where you are. Move a little more. And build from there.

Something to think about this week...

What kind of movement could you start giving yourself credit for instead of dismissing it because it doesn’t feel like a “real” workout?

Pay attention to that this week.

You've got this!

Maybe you ate what you thought was a pretty healthy lunch, but an hour later you're back in the kitchen looking for a snack. Or you've been trying to eat better, so you're watching your portions, cutting back on certain foods, and doing all the things you think you're supposed to do. But you're still hungry! I think sometimes we get so caught up in trying to eat less of the things we think...

Hey there, Reader! I don't know how many times I've opened my refrigerator at the end of the week and discovered vegetables that never made it into a meal. And here's the funny thing. I meal plan! I make my grocery list based on that plan, and I buy what I need. It's not like I'm wandering through the produce section throwing random vegetables into my cart and hoping for the best. But somehow, I still end up throwing some of them away. Sometimes I simply buy more than I need. Sometimes I get...

Hey there, Reader! One of the biggest obstacles to eating well isn’t knowing what to eat. It’s having the time and energy to actually make it. You get home late. You have 20 minutes between one thing and the next. You’re exhausted, everyone is hungry, and the last thing you want to do is start chopping vegetables. So healthy eating gets postponed until you have more time. We’ve made “eating well” too complicated When you picture a healthy dinner, what do you see? If your answer involves a...
